How Neighbors Become Partners in Change

By Amara Diallo18 Dec 20255 min read

It started with a corner store owner who refused payment for fifty gallons of milk. Today, more than forty local businesses fuel Harborlight’s routes — and they’ll tell you they get as much as they give.

Start With What A Business Already Does

Bakeries donate day-old bread. Auto shops service our vans at cost. A print shop runs our flyers between paying jobs. Partnership works because we never ask anyone to become something they’re not — we just invite them to share what they already do best.

Make Giving Visible And Joyful

Partner decals sit in shop windows across Portland, and our gala honors a Business Neighbor of the Year. Teams join packing nights in company shirts, and those photos travel further than any advertisement — customers notice who shows up.

“Our crew talks about packing night all month. It did more for morale than any retreat we ever paid for.” — Rosa, Harbor Bakehouse manager

Three Ways To Partner This Year

  • Route sponsors cover one delivery van for a full month.
  • Skill partners donate pro hours — legal, design, repairs.
  • Gala tables put your team at the year’s happiest dinner.
